Child Safety 

Your child’s safety is our number one priority!

 

To ensure that your child is safe at all times during our sessions, the following procedures are in place and are mandatory at all of our WePlaySport Sessions: 

 

  • All of our coaches and anyone employed by WePlaySport will hold a valid Working with Children Card (WWC) this can be requested at any time by the parent and/or school. These cards will be validated and approved by the school prior to any sessions taking place on the school premises. 

  • A mandatory register/roll will be taken at the start of the session to confirm attendance and children will only be able to leave the session if they can see their Parent and/or Guardian.

  • Children not being collected by a parent or Guardian will be collected by a member of the after-school care team. 

  • Session plans will be approved by the school prior to term and all hazards and risks will be reduced wherever possible. 

  • Sessions will only take place on suitable surfaces for the sport and sessions may be postponed due to adverse weather conditions.​​​​

  • To avoid injury and mitigate risks, wherever possible children will be divided into groups depending on their age, size and ability.  However, there are sport associated risks associated with sport that includes trips, falls and other accidents, these will be mitigated as much as possible by the coaches. ​​

The Session  

How it all works

 

Sessions After School​

  1. When children finish school, they will be asked to make their way to the designated area that the WePlaySport Session will be taking place (this will be communicated prior to the session). 

  2. Our WePlaySport coaches will already be set-up and waiting for their arrival

  3. They will be greeted by the coach and asked for their name for the coach to do their first check against the roll. 

  4. Coaches will have a warm-up or fun game for the children to play while they wait for other children

  5. At the session start time children will be asked to form a group and sit on the floor for coaches to complete a roll and introduce themselves.

  6. Once everyone is accounted for all children will then be under the supervision of the coaches for the full duration of the session. 

  7. Regular breaks will be provided throughout the session for children to rest, get water, chat with parents and have a break.

  8. At the end of a session - Children can only leave the session premises when a parent or guardian is visible to the child and can be picked out and pointed at by the child.

  9. If a child is attending After School care, they will be escorted to this facility by a coach or a member of the After-school Team. Please inform the school/coach.

Session Before School ​

  1. Children will be dropped at the location of the session by parents and welcomed by the coaches. 

  2. Children from that point will then be under the supervision of the coaches

  3. Children will only be allowed to leave the session and make their way to their class after the school bell

  4. All children will be encouraged to walk with classmates and will never be allowed to leave the school premises at any time. ​​​​

All Children Must Bring the Following to WePlaySport Sessions: ​

  • Appropriate clothing and footwear for the session they are playing. 

  • A hat and/or sun protection.

  • A full water bottle 

  • Any medical equipment such as inhaler.
